  • This training is designed so that participants will be able to:

    • Describe and discuss the historical developmental use of psychedelics (specifically Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy) in medical and mental health practice. 

    • Identify how KAP has been useful for impacting clinical therapy work and describe the differences between recreational and clinical medical/therapeutic use of ketamine. 

    • Discuss the recent research, statistics and treatment outcomes surrounding KAP to potential clients. Assess client experience and effectiveness of KAP treatment based on intentions set for goals within sessions. 

    • Analyze ways in which integrating spiritual experiences during NOSC in a ketamine session may be difficult and also may be helpful for clients and describe what philosophical influences of indigenous spiritual traditions have impacted the development of KAP. 

    • Prepare, design and explain the blueprint to future KAP sessions and the importance of ecology in the process. 

    • Identify diagnoses’ that would be appropriate for ketamine treatment, develop treatment plans for KAP sessions, identify clients who would and would not be good candidates.

    • Describe ways to psychologically and physically prepare a client for a ketamine session and understand ways in which trauma may surface in a ketamine session.

    • Prepare to utilize interventions, such as IFS, grounding, somatics and breath work, in treatment during a ketamine session with a client to help regulate the nervous system.  

    • Analyze and discuss the components and experience of a ketamine session from start to finish, including intention setting, integration and set, setting and dosing protocols as well as the various routes of administration for KAP.

    • Demonstrate application of knowledge and tools learned surrounding KAP, while working with non-ordinary state of consciousness and summarize details of a KAP session experience in documentation to provide to a client.

    • Demonstrate ability to assist a client in integrating KAP individual and group session experiences into client conscious state that assists client in meaning making of experience. 

    • Identify the process for administering ketamine medicine and recognize factors that indicate ineligibility for ketamine session and understand the possible side effects of ketamine and how they are managed. 

    • Describe ways in which a clinician can help mitigate the risk of ketamine addiction and analyze ways in which countertransference may occur during a ketamine session.

    • Recognize potential risks involved with KAP and explain boundaries that must be communicated prior to a ketamine session.

    • Identify the legal and practical hurdles in accessing KAP treatment for their clients and organize a list of resources to secure necessary items to have available for a ketamine session. 

    • Organize and prepare necessary documentation and insurance requirements before taking on KAP clients, as well as describe considerations and boundaries surrounding marketing and advertising KAP treatment. 

    • Assess, prepare, apply and integrate KAP for future clients, as well as prepare their clients for integrating the experiences for KAP sessions into their larger therapeutic goals.

    • Prepare clients psychologically, emotionally and physically for KAP and take a client through a KAP protocol from start to finish, as well as account for necessary set up requirements and have identified resources for trouble shooting through out the protocol.
